After work drove out to Bocktown Beer and Grill for the 100th Pittsburgh Beer Meetup. I did a taste test between two potential new Sam Adams beers (an oaked ale and a maple porter — I chose the ale). Greg won 100 craft beer bottles in a raffle (and elected to share most of them, making him the new most popular member of the group). The raffle raised $1,150 for Brewing Up a Cure, which is awesome. Can’t wait for the next meetup.
After making sure my three beers (plus two tasters) had run their course I made the long (~30 minutes) journey home and to bed.
Headed out to The BeerHive in the Strip with the Beer Meetup. Had some East End Pedal Pale Ale, which I don’t believe I’d had yet this year. It was good, but not as good as I remember from previous years. Maybe it’s designed to be tasted after chasing it through the streets of Pittsburgh on your bike. Also, Jeff talked Greg and me into joining the Ultimate Frisbee Meetup. It will be nice to get some regular exercise for a change.
More requirements review. Nice to do this before promising anything to the customer.
After work biked to 1947 Tavern in Shadyside to take part in the Beer Meetup. Lots of good beer and interesting conversation. Food was okay. Had a club sandwich that didn’t impress but was welcome after the bike ride.
Biked home. Getting old. Or I just need to ride my bike more often.
Up kinda late; ran some errands that were totally not shopping for birthday presents for my wife š
Spent the afternoon at Rock Bottom with the Beer Meetup. Greg showed up and we watched the Pens’ meaningless final game as we drank and socialized.
Stopped at Lowe’s on the way home to pick up some topsoil and grass seed. I predict some light gardening is in my future.
Headed out to Howlers in Bloomfield to see our friend Megan play with The Turpentiners. Pretty entertaining show overall. Andy stopped by and proudly represented Lawrenceville by drinking Pabst. I could not bring myself to do so.
