• Up late; perhaps due to our late-running party?
  • Moved more files and stuff up to the new office. I feel like I’m building a fort of file cabinets in there.
  • We walked to Tutti Frutti where we had to get 8 dollars’ worth of frozen yogurt to satisfy the demands of Emily’s Groupon. I believe I sweated out the whole of my yogurt on the walk back.
  • Watched Gran Torino from Netflix. Really great film. Who knew Clint Eastwood could do such a good grizzled old man? The “get off my lawn” line was delivered perfectly.

  • Up early; short walk and a bagel before work.
  • Internet connection was dead most of the morning. It’s really hard to telecommute when the tele- part goes belly-up. Luckily it came back before lunchtime.
  • Took a bus downtown for the gallery crawl. First time I’ve paid bus fare since… forever I think. I miss my Pitt ID.
  • Met up with Emily and some friends and toured some exhibits. There was some art being created live at SPACE by artists and by onlookers. Pretty neat. Wood St. Galleries had an Icelandic exhibit which was… weird. There was one room where they lock you in the dark for five minutes. Another where they had a candle being magnified against the four walls of the room by magnifying lenses, but one of them was out of focus. I must admit I didn’t “get” most of it (like the guitar player guy with the buzz saw lowering into his head and retracting) but then I don’t really get Bjork either.
  • A couple of our companions had a Groupon for Olive or Twist, so we stopped by there for drinks and a bite to eat. The main bar area was full so we headed up to the very swanky upstairs lounge. I was pleasantly surprised to see East End Fat Gary on tap. Emily got some godawful drink with olives and vodka (yes even Boyd & Blair can be ruined by adding olives).

  • Up early; to work.
  • Took an early/long lunch break to bring Hunter to the V-E-T to check on some stomach troubles he’s been having. All appears to be well; the only thing we might need to do is change his food.
  • Emily brought home some take-out from S&D Polish Deli in the Strip. The kielbasa was tasty and the potato dumplings were delicious. I believe there was a Groupon involved in the transaction somewhere…
  • Finally got around to washing bottles and putting my beer in them. I don’t have high hopes for this one, but it’s my first so it’s not the end of the world if it sucks. I took a swig of some of the unfinished stuff and it was drinkable, if a bit sweet.

  • Up early; more leftover fruit salad for breakfast. Sadly that was the last of it.
  • Got some nice concrete tasks to perform at work. Performed them.
  • Made myself a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch, paired with some of my mother’s broccoli salad. The post-Memorial Day week is good for eating.
  • Emily made a fancy flatbread pizza with peaches and gorgonzola cheese for dinner. Yum.
  • We went for a bike ride after dinner. Nothing too epic, just down to Regent Square and back. Stopped at Tutti Frutti and tried to make use of Emily’s Groupon, but it turns out we don’t have a large enough appetite for frozen yogurt to make it worthwhile.
  • At home, relaxed with some more Mass Effect 2. I seem to be getting re-addicted to this game.

  • Up and to work. Bagel Friday!
  • Continued work on audio driver. At vendor’s suggestion tried to make all operations local to the board (I was using a network filesystem for development). Unfortunately flashing the board took most of the day so not much real progress was made.
  • Dinner at Shiloh Grill on Mt. Washington (we had a Groupon!). Lots of fun, with the menu and overall experience nearly identical to that of Harris Grill.
