• Up somewhat early. To church. Interesting sermon on Alzheimer’s patients.
  • Brunch at Double Wide Grill. Waitress was new and didn’t quite get my order (barbecue burger with a portabella cap instead of beef) right, but I didn’t communicate it clearly enough and failed to clarify when an opening came up. Ended up with a beef patty plus a portabella cap. Still tasty.
  • Ventured down into the back yard and hosed down the jungle of poison ivy that covers it with Round-up. This was not our first choice for a solution but the problem has become so bad that we felt we had few options. I take full responsibility and will turn in my liberal card at the next meeting.
  • Greg came over and the three of us headed to the new Mad Mex location in Shadyside. The Thai curry burrito is still top-notch. Also tried some Atwater Vanilla Java Imperial Stout. Much like the similarly flavored porter the stout was smooth and went down easy for an imperial, but also like the porter the vanilla flavor was really strong from the draft. Maybe a bottled version would be more balanced.
  • Ted joined us back home, originally to play “Last Night on Earth”. However, since none of us actually remembered how to play we ended up going with “Settlers of Catan” instead. We got through two games, the second of which was a monster.

  • Up a bit early. Fever mostly gone. Off to church to see Emily play with the Folk Orchestra. They kicked ass, as has been their habit of late. Emily is the best one in her row.
  • Home. Took a brief nap to recover from church then headed to the Waterfront. Got fitted for my third wedding tux in the space of a year (only one was my wedding), then bought shower gifts and some miscellaneous household items.
  • Home again. Emily and I took a long nap as she put a 90 minute string of cheesy movie trailers up on Netflix streaming.
  • Dinner was left-over birthday cake. Exactly what my worn out body needed.

  • Up relatively early, to church. Music (and most of the sermony stuff) today was provided by Jim Scott, a prominent Unitarian singer/songwriter, as part of a promotion for the Unitarian musical he’s written (not making this up).
  • Home to change into dingier clothes then off to Wings, Suds & Spuds with Emily, Greg, and Jaos. Much was discussed and many wings were eaten.
  • Visited my parents. Performed requisite tech support (brought their computer up to Ubuntu 10.04 and fixed their printer) while watching most of the Indiana Jones movies on USA.
  • Remembered that one of the few things I miss about cable is turning the TV on to find a random awesome movie marathon. Also this is one of the reasons I got rid of cable. I get so much more done nowadays.
  • Returned home and putzed around on the computer. But at least the TV was off.
